Game 2 - Baldur 2 vs. Harkevich
Is it harkevich or strakhov?? Who knows?? All game I couldn't get his name right. Going into it I was even expecting Strakhov's feat and later he went to shoot a model and I asked if he was trying to trigger overrun...
This game was against Adam, new to the game but plays more than anyone I know. He is rapidly increasing in skill level. He recently picked up circle but for this game he was letting me test my pair into Khador. He was going to drop his Sorcha 1 list but realized he forgot a bunch of the models and didn't want to proxy so we got to test armor on armor.
The lists: hint, mine is the same...

Scenario was Take and Hold. Not particularly a live scenario, but you always need to keep the scenario in mind. Sometimes it may surprise you. In our game it didn't matter except that it forced my deployment along with the house on my side of the map.
I won the roll and chose to go first. Adam picked the side with the wall and forest for Alten to hide behind.
Circle deployment. Won't differ by much.
Khador deployment. That's alot of heavies...khador heavies... ugh
Circle turn 1
Run, this is why I like first with this list. I want to run to get up the board. Sentries and wrath form a wall. Megalith on the far end, roots himself. Baldur walks forward and roots the wrath and both sentry stones. Arm 21 and stealth.. duh!
I realize at this point that baldur will not make it to the flag on turn 2 by walking, but my forest wall prevents me from charging... note taken.
Khador turn 1
Harkevich has field marshal: reposition 3". This has a really cool interaction with his Kodiaks where they can create a cloud and repo back behind it. So this is what he does. Mobility from harkevich makes they decently fast as well. The Kodiaks all trample forward and vent steam then repo behind forming a cloud wall with tons of high arm steel behind it. Behemoth moves up and takes a shot at a sentry stone, auto miss due to stealth. The shot scatters and kills a manikin. He repos behind the wall. Juggernauts take the sides of the cloud wall and the Drakhun flanks hard left. Alten moved up and shot megalith and put 6 points of grevious wounds into megalith's spirit then repositions behind the forest and a juggernaut.
Circle turn 2
So while writing this is realized that I mixed up some of the cloud and forest rules regarding sprays. But both Adam and I missed it during the game.
I spent a few minutes trying to figure out how to kill alten at the beginning of my turn so I could place my manikin correctly. The problem was that he was more than 3" deep in a forest and blocked by a cloud from the side. This is the part we messed up. Sprays stop after 3" in a forest. So I set a manikin up to spray through the cloud and able to claim the aiming bonus. I walked another manikin into the cloud as a target for the first. And walked another manikin to spray the juggernaut trying to clip alten behind it. So technically this shot would not have made it to alten because it was thru the forest but a boosted to hit and damaged takes out alten. I did have two more sprays with enough boosts to get him anyway.
Both sentries make forests and for the wall again. Wrath moves up completing the left side and takes a shot at the Drakhun. Not enough to dismount him. Wold wyrd moves to within 10" and finishes the job. Dismounted Drakhun is a sad Drakhun indeed. Everybody else moves into counter punch position and baldur finishes the turn by feating and putting a wall up in front of wrath to try and block some charges. Baldur's feat is roots of the earth on all friendly faction models.
Didn't have a wall template at first.. proxied a measuring tool until I made one during his turn.
Khador turn 2
Adam spends a good chunk of time measuring and figuring out the best charge angels he could get. Harkevich activates first and casts mobility and counter feats. I believe he shoots a manikin as well.
One juggernaut charges my sentry stone and kills it then repositions to engage megalith and the wold guardian.
A Kodiak charges the other sentry stone and rolls terribly for damage leaving it alive. Venting steam as well, because.. why not..
Adam's next target is woldwrath. He needs to get behemoth on him to have any success but there is only one small place he can engage the wrath at due to Baldur's wall placement. Unfortunately a manikin is standing there. Part of harkevich's feat let's the jacks shoot before they charge and Adam was considering it. But decided it wasn't worth the risk if by chance the shot missed the manikin then behemoth would fail his charge and waste a turn. He decides to use a Kodiak to charge the manikin then repositions out of the way.
Behemoth charges woldwrath. Fully loaded he leaves wrath with 22 boxes left, and a crippled body. The remaining Kodiak moves to shield harkevich and cloud up with the juggernaut going base to base to lock in iron sentinel. This puts harkevich at 16/21.. with a few focus for power field. Drakhun runs to engage the woldwyrd.
Circle turn 3
Time to counter punch with pillow fisted wolds into arm 23 khador jacks.. wohoo!
Manikin is placed to try and hit harkevich. Only target he can damage, fails to to anything.
Woldwrath spends all his fury and 2 initials trying to kill behemoth and fails. The wold guardian punches at the Kodiak engaging him and megalith. Using he ram ability to beat back the jack. Pow 17 into arm 23 is a joke. Shifting stones teleport megalith next to behemoth. He then proceeds to finish off behemoth. Only took 58 points to do it!
Black clad tries to clear off the wyrd and kill the Drakhun but does not damage him. The wyrd the shoots him down. My other wyrd decides to take a shot at harkevich and I believe does nothing except spend fury.. puts roots on megalith, wolds Guardian and the woldwrath. He then tries to hide behind the wrath. Camping 0 and all my wolds except the guardian at max fury I end my turn. Score is still 0 - 0
Khador turn 3
Harkevich has to go first to jump start all the jacks that were knocked down, and casts mobility. He moves over and kills a the manikin that was trying to spray him. The Kodiak guarding him charges the wold wyrd on my right and does equal damage in all aspects but fails to cripple any. He vents and repositions to tie up the wyrd and a blackclad.
The juggernaut engaging the woldguardian takes some swings at him and doesn't do anything significant. The Kodiak in the middle takes out the other sentry stone. The last Kodiak moves out of the juggernauts way and goes to tie up the left wyrd and blackclad, also venting steam. The last juggernaut charges into woldwrath but fails to put the beast down.
Circle turn 4
The nice thing about the theme is that all my wolds heal one point during my control phase so baldur doesn't have to spend his activation healing aspects unless they have more than one crippled.
Wolds also cannot frenzy as part of their construct rules. Serenity from the stones pulls 1 off of the wrath. Baldur takes the rest off of the wrath and 3 off of megalith..
Woldwrath pounds the juggernaut to a mush. Still alive but severely damaged. The Guardian and megalith cripple the other juggernaut. At this point Adam concedes because all he has left are 3 Kodiaks and feels he can no longer get thru any of my armor.
Baldur's arm skew is tough to deal with. It's not as extreme a skew as some lists can get but it does have arm 22/23 wolds turn after turn who also regenerate health everyturn. This has a kind of balance with the devours debt on baldur. While the wolds are healing themselves baldur is slow killing himself.
Next report will be a change from baldur as I wanted to test krueger 2 as a possible pair for this list. Adam was good for another game so we ran krueger 2 into wurmwood. God help me..
